Profile: Burnett is a 5-star combo guard rated as the No. 23 overall player and No. 5 combo guard, per 247 composite rankings. Burnett is a 6’3” guard originally from Chicago, Illinois. Nimari attends Prolific Prep in Napa, California.
Breakdown: Burnett is a player that does it all. Need a primary ball handler to set up your offense? He’s got you. Need a secondary, off-ball playmaker? He’s got you. Need someone to do the little things or knock down shots from distance? You get the point. He has good length which allows him to attack the basket with ease. Along with that, he has good vision which allows him to make plays for others when he attacks. Off the ball he can spot up and hit shots from deep. He is a volume scorer. He also does the little things that coaches love. He sets himself up nicely on the backside to steal rebounds when you don’t box out. He works hard on defense. He plays bigger than his listed height. Burnett projects to be a very talented college basketball player with NBA lottery potential.
What Burnett would bring to Alabama: Burnett brings a replacement for Kira Lewis Jr. once he turns pro. Burnett has mentioned in several different interviews that the staff has pitched him on filling Kira’s shoes if he is to commit to Alabama. He will be a swiss army knife type of player who will score from all 3 levels, facilitate, rebound and defend. Burnett would thrive in Oats’ fast paced offense where he is able to flourish as a scorer and facilitator. He is the perfect fit in the Nate Oats offense.
Alabama’s chances with Burnett: I like Alabama’s shot here as the Tide made the final cut to 5. His final five schools are Alabama, Louisville, Michigan, Oregon and Texas Tech. Burnett has an official visit lined up with Alabama September 27-29 which is the weekend of the Ole Miss football game. He also has visits set earlier in September with Louisville and Michigan. Coach Oats will have his shot in September to pitch to Burnett why the Tide should land his commitment.
