Alabama is coming off of a disappointing loss to Western Kentucky heading into their last non-conference game before SEC play begins. Luckily for the Tide (4-3), it comes against a struggling ETSU team who also shares a 4-3 record with no quality wins. This will give Alabama a chance to get back on track and gain some confidence, especially when it comes to shooting the ball from deep. According to TeamRankings, Alabama shoots 29.3% from 3 which ranks 259th in the country. With the way Nate Oats wants to play, the Tide have to be able to make those shots. A 4-3 record to start the season is what happens when you can not. That’s why this game is so important. Expect Alabama to shoot as quickly and as often as they can hoping to get a rhythm going. ETSU is a decent team defensively, but they are not great offensively and should not be able to outscore the Tide. ETSU hold opponents to 61 PPG and 36.9% shooting which both rank in the top 25 in the country. Offensively they only score 59.2 PPG and shoot 35.9% which ranks as one of the worst in the country in those categories. They also turn the ball over a ton averaging 17.4 per game, which is 295th nationally.
ETSU Players to Watch:
-C Silas Adheke (6.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1 APG)
-G Serrel Smith (6.1 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.1 APG)
-G David Sloan (9.3 PPG, 1.4 RPG, 4 APG)
-F Damari Monsanto (6.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 1.1 APG)
-F Ty Brewer (8.9 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 0.9 APG)
-F Vonnie Patterson (5.6 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.1 APG)
-G Ledarrius Brewer (15.1 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.1 APG)
Alabama comes into this game as a heavy favorite and there iss plenty of reason to be optimistic that the Tide can win this game assuming things go as expected. The bottom line is ETSU does not have enough offensive firepower to make up for the the amount of mistakes they have. It is hard to know if Alabama will be a good shooting team or not, but they will make enough shots on Tuesday night to win the game.
