BREAKING: John Petty Jr. returning to Alabama

Updated: Aug 17, 2020

SG John Petty Jr. has announced his intention to return to Alabama.

Petty, one of the top players in the SEC over the course of his collegiate career, had previously kept his options open by remaining in the 2020 NBA draft pool. That, however, ends today as the fan-favorite guard is returning to Tuscaloosa for his 4th and final season at the Capstone— as first reported by Tuscaloosa News’ Cecil Hurt.

As a Junior, the Huntsville, AL native averaged 14.5PTS/6.6TRB/2.5AST en-route to an All-SEC nomination. With Petty’s decision, Alabama becomes a premier favorite to win the conference— a feat they’ve not accomplished since 2002.
