BREAKING: Alabama Makes 4-Star Guard's Top 10

Deivon Smith

Profile: Smith is a four-star point guard rated as the No. 48 overall player and No. 5 point guard, per 247 composite rankings. Smith is a 5’11” point guard from Atlanta, Georgia.

Breakdown: Smith is one of the, if not the most, explosive guard in the class. Smith is a smaller guard but plays above the rim due to his athleticism. He is near impossible to slow down, especially in transition. Smith has elite speed and is a great finisher. His jumper is constantly improving and with the right coaching could make a big jump which will help him take his game to the next level. He will thrive in a fast-paced offense and will be a very impactful college basketball player wherever he chooses to play at.

What Smith would bring to Alabama: Smith would be a great add in this class. I personally think he is much better than his 48th overall ranking on the 247 composite. He is one of the fastest and most electrifying kids in the class which would thrive in Nate Oats’ offense. He likes to get out in transition and get easy points there. He would be surrounded by shooters at Alabama which would give him plenty of options to kick out to when he penetrates the defense in half court sets. He also has a nice mid-range jump shot that he can shoot off the dribble which only makes him deadlier as an offensive weapon. Smith is a kid that I really, really want.

Alabama’s chances with Smith: Smith cut his list to 10 today. Alabama made the cut which is a good start. Smith has an official visit lined up with North Carolina State on the weekend of August 31. I think Alabama has a chance in this. I am hopeful Alabama can get an official visit from Smith. If Alabama gets him on campus anything is possible.
