Alabama (3-4) returns home after a 1-2 performance at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas to face off against Stephen F. Austin (7-1). The Lumberjacks gained some notoriety early in the season after going to Cameron Indoor and defeating then No. 1 ranked Duke in overtime, ending their 150-game home winning streak versus non- conference opponents. Just like the rest of Alabama’s non-conference opponents, the Lumberjacks are a very tough opponent for the Tide and will be another chance for Alabama to pick up another quality win. The Lumberjacks come in averaging 85.8 points per game, that ranks 7th nationally in points per game. They also come in ranked 27th in average field goal percentage at 48.2%. Most of their points come inside of the arc as they only average 5.3 made 3s a game. Alabama comes in at 33rd in the nation, averaging 79.6 points per game. The difference is Alabama is averaging 10 made 3s a game which ranks 19th in the nation. Much of the early story lines for Alabama have been the pace of play that Alabama has been playing at, Alabama currently ranks 5th in the nation in adjusted tempo. The issue with going as fast as the Tide has been going is their turnovers. Alabama ranks 347th in the nation in turnovers per game at 18.3 turnovers a game. Unfortunately, Stephen F. Austin ranks 1st in the nation in forced turnovers a game at 26 a game. Fortunately, Stephen F. Austin ranks 349th in turnovers a game at 19.1 a game.
