Alabama vs. Mississippi State recap

Tuscaloosa, Alabama-

After dropping a heartbreaker in double overtime last Saturday against Florida, the Tide bounced back tonight, defeating Mississippi State 90-69 tonight in Coleman Coliseum. The Tide won the battle on the boards tonight, out rebounding the bulldogs 48-41, and held the Bulldogs to just under 38% from the floor tonight

John Petty Jr. recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds tonight, including hitting 4 three-pointers. Kira Lewis Jr.  also recorded 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists tonight, playing a more complete game after struggling a little late in the final stretch of the Florida game. Galin Smith & Alex Reese came up huge down low tonight, with Smith recording 11 points tonight and Reese blocking 3 shots tonight, which is good for a career-high. Sophomore F Reggie Perry fouled out in the middle of the second half, which killed any momentum the bulldogs had. Guard Nick Weatherspoon led the way for the Bulldogs tonight, recording 20 points and 4 rebounds on 50% shooting. The Tide advance to 8-6 (1-1), while the Bulldogs fall to 9-5 (0-2).

Player of the Game -  Kira Lewis Jr.

Lewis had a off game against the Gators, shooting 7/25, which is the worst percentage in his career. Tonight, he was more relaxed and it helped the Tide make key runs throughout the game. His rebounding and defense also came up huge tonight, grabbing 8 rebounds and a steal. His buckets in transition was also huge, using his speed to his advantage.

Next Up - Alabama hits the road this weekend to play the Kentucky Wildcats (11-3) at 11 AM C.T. on ESPN.
