Alabama recruiting blast: Where Alabama stands in pursuit of their top targets

Updated: Jul 4, 2020

During a time in which the amount of basketball being played is at an all-time low, the tires of the college basketball recruiting world are still being kicked. Below, we'll provide an update on where Alabama stands with a few of their top remaining targets.

6’11 PF, Alex Tchikou (‘20):

The #58 overall player in the country, Tchikou recently reclassified to the 2020 class, cutting his list to nine schools— Alabama among them. Florida State, Arizona, Illinois, Oregon and Alabama are viewed as viable options as it stands currently. Nate Oats and his Crimson Tide staff have done their due-diligence and are in solid spot with Tchikou’s decision looming. This could go any which way, but Alabama should feel very comfortable with their positioning on Tchikou.

6’3 PG JD Davison (‘21):

The #12 overall player in the country, it’s no secret that Davison is Alabama’s Top target in the ‘21 class. The Calhoun School (AL) in-state star recently cut his list to 10, with Alabama, Memphis, Auburn and Florida State being the primary contenders. Alabama has been on Davison longer than any other school thanks to Crimson Tide assistant Antoine Pettway, but the aforementioned FSU, Memphis and Auburn are still very-much in the thick of it. While it’s still relatively early, Alabama should be viewed as a slight favorite to land the dynamic guard. No decision date has been set for Davison.

6’11 C Charles Bediako (‘21):

The #20 overall player in the country, Bediako has been a name to watch for Tide fans for a little over a year now. Bediako has yet to cut his list, but holds offers from Duke, Illinois, Alabama, Arizona State, Maryland, Michigan State and Ohio State among others. A former teammate of Joshua Primo’s on Canada’s U16 team, and a former teammate of Keon Ambrose-Hylton at Andrews-Osborne Academy in Ohio, Bediako has plenty of connections to Tuscaloosa that would make Alabama an attractive landing spot for the Canadian big-man. However, it will not be an easy road ahead for the Tide as they try to land the newly-minted IMG Academy (FL) transferee. Bediako will cut his list on Friday, July 3rd.

6’4 CG Rodney Rice (‘22):

The #54 overall player in the country, Rice’s recruitment is only just beginning. The DeMatha Catholic (MD) star currently holds offers from Alabama, Georgetown, Louisville, Maryland and UCONN among others. With nearly two full years of recruitment left, it’s hard to get a gauge of what school or school(s) stand out in Rice's case, but Alabama appears to be prioritizing the talented combo-guard.

6’3 PG Zocko Littleton Jr (‘22):

The #64 overall player in the country, Littleton’s recruitment has been wide open—and it's no secret that Alabama and Georgia appear to be the early favorites to land the South Cobb (GA) Point Guard. Alabama assistant Charlie Henry is the primary recruiter in this scenario, and will be tasked with attempting to garner the speedy guard’s commitment in a few year's time.
