Alabama Basketball Summer Practice Update

Nate Oats and his Alabama Crimson Tide team returned to the court this month for summer practice, beginning their 2020-‘21 SEC regular-season and tournament title defense. Here’s what we’ve been hearing throughout the summer as the Tide kick off their 2021-‘22 campaign:

Texas Tech Transfer CG Nimari Burnett has stood out early during his time in Tuscaloosa, starring on defense and behind the 3pt line. Not only that, the former McDonald’s All-American is in excellent shape.

“He’s breaking records left and right with shooting drills”- Nate Oats to Tide 100.9

Five-Star PG JD Davison (Calhoun) is making his presence felt early, impressing in the open floor with his passing ability and slasher mentality— converting a number of flashy passes and showing off above the rim during the Tide’s open practice.

Sophomore F Darius Miles is noticeably stronger and faster. After an up and down freshman season where Miles showed flashes of potential in limited playing time, the 6’6’ forward looks to take a 2nd year jump.

Furman Grad-Transfer F Noah Gurley has been lights out early on, showing out behind the arc and on the glass. Additionally, Gurley has immediately taken on a leadership role inside the locker room. Look for the experienced forward to make an instant impact in Tuscaloosa.

PG Jahvon Quinerly has been a steady factor, taking control of the Crimson Tide offense. After a breakout RS Sophomore campaign, Quinerly looks to take an even bigger leap as a Junior.

G Keon Ellis looks to make a big jump coming into his senior season, appearing to be a more complete player who, over the summer, has finally adjusted to the D-1 pace.

Newcomer F Jusaun Holt (St. Frances) has impressed with a quick trigger offensively. While he may see limited action in year one, Holt could be a name to remember in the future.
