2020 4-star SF Darius Miles of IMG has committed to the Alabama. The 6’7” forward joins Joshua Primo, Keon Amrbose-Hylton, and Keon Ellis in the class of 2020 for the Tide. Miles is ranked as the 145th overall player (3-star) on 247sports composite rankings. Rivals has Miles ranked as the 113th ranked player- good enough for a 4-star ranking.
247sports’ Jerry Meyer evaluates Miles:
“Has a long and lanky build for a wing player. A smooth athlete with leaping ability. Not an explosive athlete in traffic. Has a finesse, skilled finishing game. Has a smooth lefty shooting stroke. Can make unorthodox shots off the dribble. Not a playmaker off the dribble. Uses the bounce to get his shot. Not a physical defender or rebounder at this point. Viewed as a player with upside with development.”
Miles is an underrated prospect that seems to have been missed on by many high major programs. Miles played this past season for IMG’s postgraduate team. There’s one thing for certain about Miles’ game— him being a natural scorer. Miles is a lefty that has a smooth jump stroke. He can score from 3 levels, has a long frame and is a solid athlete. He has limitless potential, especially on the offensive end. He is a great 3-point shooter who is capable of scoring off the catch and off the dribble. On-ball he is solid defensively and plays with passion. Off the ball he can be a bit lackadaisical, but that can be said for the entire IMG team in games I have seen. With coaching and development Miles can be a solid role player for Alabama. Nate Oats has stressed the need to have players who can dribble, pass, and shoot throughout the roster. Miles brings all of these attributes to the table.
Changing the culture sometimes means flipping the roster. Nate Oats has stressed that we could see a major overhaul in the roster to get players in the program that fit his style. Miles joins Ambrose, Ellis, and Primo as the beginning of this, and we could see more additions in the coming weeks.
