2020 4-star JUCO SG (#3 overall) Keon Ellis has committed to Alabama. Ellis, who will have 2 years of eligibility remaining, becomes the third addition in Alabama’s class of 2020. The 6’6, 165lbs guard hailing from Florida Southwestern State College averaged 18.1pts, 4.3rebs, and 2.2ast as a Sophomore while shooting an impressive 40% from 3 and 53% from the field for the Buccaneers. Ellis will look to have an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa as an explosive scorer.
247sports’ Evan Daniels evaluates Ellis:
“Plus size with a lean build and fine athleticism for a perimeter scorer. Scorers mentality, and is equipped to score it from all three levels. Good shooter off the catch from distance when he takes good shots and keeps balance. Shot 40.1-percent on 142 attempts at JUCO this past season. Does a good job of using the threat of his jump shot to ball fake and make a play going towards the rim. Has potential to guard both perimeter spots. Next step is fine tuning shot selection, tightening up handle and adding strength.”
Ellis speaks on his commitment via Instagram:
“First I would like thank God for blessing me with the ability to play basketball, next I want to thank the FSW coaching staff for putting in the position to succeed and showcase my ability, last I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me through this JUCO process, with that being said I will be attending The University of Alabama! Also thanks to Coach Oats and coach Hodgson for giving me the opportunity to play for their program!”
