2020-21 Alabama Basketball Non-Conference Overview

At one point a couple months ago, having Alabama sports looked like a pipe dream. College athletics were on the verge of shutting down with schedules falling apart and conferences/teams opting out....but then as the buzzer sounded, we hit a full court shot and (at least temporarily) saved the season. The Alabama coaching staff slowly put together an updated non-conference schedule and were finally able to release it 3 weeks from game 1. In this article I will be giving a short overview of each team, where they finished last season, and where they sit heading into the 2020-21 season.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, it’s a good schedule for the team we have this season. It’s not too difficult but it’s also not a schedule filled with cupcakes. There’s not a team on this schedule that they can overlook. The main event will be the home game against Houston who will likely be ranked in the top 25. There’s also the Maui Invitational in Asheville where we’ll get either North Carolina or UNLV in game 2 (after playing a good Stanford team) and then another opponent for a third game. Even the games against ETSU and Furman should help us prepare for SEC play which begins in late December. There’s a ton of talent on this year’s team so it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch them improve game to game as they head into SEC play.
