Fresh off a bounce back victory against LSU, the 10th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, sitting atop of the SEC standings at 10-0, travels to Columbia for a tough matchup against the 18th ranked Missouri Tigers, who will look to give the Tide their first loss in conference play.
The Tide has been in a bit of a slump from behind the arc as of late, and will look to break out of that slump this game, but it will be tough, because Missouri guards the 3 ball better than any other team in the conference. With this being said, the Tide has found multiple ways to win games as of late, with major contributions coming from guys like Juwan Gary and Keon Ellis off the bench. The Tide will once lean on the scoring ability of Jaden Shackelford, who led the Tide in scoring with 19 points in their victory against the LSU Tigers on Wednesday. Defense has been the name of the game for the Tide as of late, with KenPom ranking the Tide third in the country in defensive efficiency. With Herbert Jones still banged up and Jordan Bruner still sidelined with an injury, the Tide will again look for Juwan Gary and Alex Reese to provide toughness and physicality down low on the block.
The Tigers, fresh off their victory against Kentucky on Wednesday, will look to their terrific guard play again, led by Xavier Pinson and Dru Smith, who combined for 40 points in their win against the Wildcats. The Tigers are an extremely physical team down in the post as well, led by Jeremiah Tilmon, their true glue guy. However, shooting behind the arc is not their strong suit, only making an average six 3's a game. Their discipline on defense is not up to par, as sometimes after made baskets they have a tendency to not get back on defense. Look for the Tide to take advantage of this.
Players to Watch
Xavier Pinson - 15.1 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.4 APG
Dru Smith - 13.9 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 3.2 APG
Jeremiah Tilmon - 13.5 PPG, 7.9 RPG
This will be a tough game for both teams, with play styles clashing and both teams will look to determine the pace. Alabama is banged up heavily right now, so that will affect the productivity from some players. Look for Mizzou to come out throwing every punch they can, but the Tide will pull away late in the second half.
