Quick update on Alabama targets remaining as of the morning of 4/5:
-Keon Ellis will commit at noon ET on April 5th. I expect Alabama to secure his commitment unless something unforeseen happens. Western Kentucky made a late push, but I expect the Tide to finish the deal here.
-Saquan Singleton will commit on April 6th. I expect New Mexico will land his commitment. It is my understanding that Alabama has decided to go a different way and not take Singleton in this class. We will see if things change in the next day on that front, but this is an Alabama decision one way or the other.
-Darius Miles will commit on April 7th. I expect Alabama to secure his commitment as well barring an unexpected turn of events. Bryan Hodgson did a great job in this recruitment even though Alabama joined late.
-Jordan Bruner has not set a timetable yet. He is considering Baylor, Maryland, and Alabama. I have no prediction on this front as I have heard different things in regards to how each program stands and do not know what is true and what is speculation at this point.
Update with another name to watch: Guard Luther Muhammad of Ohio State. He is best friends with JQ from when they played together in high school. One of the best guard defenders in the nation. Could see the staff going hard after him. Sit one, play 2.
What about kam woods as a walk on ?
If he wanted to be a walk on rather than go play at JSU where he has an offer I guess it could possibility. Kam isn't someone Alabama would take on scholarship or plan to play, though.
So what are our options for backup point gaurd next year then? Unless luther could get a waiver?
I would expect our combo guards like Primo, Ellis, and Shack to carry the load there if we don't sign another point guard.
Who do you expect to be pushed out of the program to make room for incoming freshmen and transfers?
I'm not going to name anyone out of respect for them and since something like this is far from certain. If everything goes as planned I could see 2-3 guys transfer out. Until we actually land a transfer commit (Bruner, Muhammed, etc.) it's hard to know for sure who would leave. That's definitely something to watch as we start to bring guys in through the portal.
Why can’t we get a real backup pg none of the options listed are true point guards if jq gets injured we’d be screwed
There are no other backup point guard options that are immediately eligible. We are just fine and have a solid and deep backcourt. Coach Oats runs a guard heavy style of play. He knows how many guards he needs. He and Hodgson have done a great job to this point with shaping out the roster.
